Sunnaas has been involved in innovation for more than 50 years, in particular development of aiding equipment like wheelchairs and walkers, communication devices for people with aphasia, telemedicine, virtual reality, rehabilitation and psychological services. Sunnaas’ Innovation Unit was established in 2011. Since then, it has launched 34 innovation projects, seven of which have already been concluded.

The testbed facilities are spread around a rehabilitation hospital dedicated to research and innovation, and aims to be as close as possible to the patient.
