Testbed purpose

The purpose of the testbed is to progress the knowledge and development of methodologies for environmental impact assessment and promote the region for economic activity based on competitive advantage of access to deep sea. It also aims to encourage development of offshore aquaculture and development of new structures and substructures from the technological, environmental, social and economic standpoint for the exploitation of marine resources

The test environment is located in the deep sea and consists of underwater electric infrastructure to evaluate the generated energy to the power grid connection, and a control centre for data analysis.

Use cases

  • Testing innovation for verification and proof-of-concept
  • Marketing and local economic development
